CEP AGM and Conference on Alternatives to Detention
Valuing the good cooperation and close ties as European network organisations of the two sectors that are so connected with each other, EuroPris and CEP participate in each other’s General Meetings with members. Building trust and joint work is not only needed at a national level, but also at a European level. Therefore, EuroPris participated at the General Meeting of CEP on 5 October in Bucharest and also attended the following conference on Alternatives to Detention. EuroPris and CEP will continue their joint work on Foreign National Prisoners and will start in 2017 joint work on Mental health issues.
The event brought together different perspectives and concepts regarding “Alternatives to detention” from various European countries: Romania, Northern Ireland, Belgium, Norway, The Netherlands, Sweden, Croatia, Switzerland, The United Kingdom and Germany. Also relevant European Institutions such as the Council of Europe and the European Commission-DG Justice took part in the programme, as well as professors from the Universities of Lausanne, Bucharest, Glasgow, Greifswald, Ulster, Timisoara and The Netherlands.
