Additional information
Built in 1867, the prison of Arlon is one the oldest prisons in the kingdom: the prison population was made up of male and female prisoners. However, the women’s ward was closed in 1975.The institution has undergone significant changes since 1980 when major work has been undertaken to renovate the wings of the cellular, to develop a sports room, a prison yard and large workshops. A warehouse and a laundry were installed in the basement and the frontages underwent full renovation. In 1998, the theatre was transformed into six premises for the professional training of the prisoners. An access control system was installed at the entrance of the prison the year after.
