On 27 February 2018, the European Commission is organising a Conference on Radicalisation in prisons in Brussels, in close cooperation with the Bulgarian Presidency and with the support of EuroPris and the Confederation of European Probation (CEP).
Participants to the conference will be prison and probation experts, judges and prosecutors, international organisations, academics and relevant NGOs.
The objective of the Conference will be to take stock of the state of play of the projects in the area of radicalisation co-funded by the European Commission. The discussions will be focusing on finding responses in the criminal justice sector. Particular attention will be paid to the use of de-radicalisation, disengagement and rehabilitation programmes, risk assessment tools and alternatives to detention, in particular for juvenile offenders.
The European Commission sent on 11 January an invitation letter the national Prison Services to nominate one representative per Member State.
The invitation letter contained a registration link with which the participants must register their presence at the latest by Thursday 25 January 2018
The European Commission will cover travel and hotel costs for 1 representative per EU Member State.
If you participate both in the EC Conference on 27 February and the EuroPris Workshop on 28 February, the European Commission will cover your travel costs and two hotel nights (26 and 27 February). The travel and hotel arrangements will be confirmed in advance by the travel agency contracted by the European Commission (based on the information provided in the online registration form). It will not be possible to reimburse any costs for tickets or accommodation booked and paid for by participants (you should therefore not make any travel arrangements on your own).
If you only participate at the EuroPris Workshop, the Commission will NOT cover your travel and hotel costs (in that event you also do NOT need to register via the above-mentioned registration link, but you will need to inform EuroPris separately of your presence).
Please do not hesitate to contact the organisers if you have further questions about the EC conference at the e-mail address JUST-PCL-MEETINGSfirstname.lastname@example.org.
