EuroPris and CEP, with the SPACE research team from the University of Lausanne, held a webinar exploring statistics on foreign national offenders for policy and practice development. The University produces Space I & II reports, offering comparative study opportunities.

 

The webinar began with Willem van der Brugge, CEP’s General Secretary, welcoming participants. Prof. Marcelo Aebi and SPACE team members presented data from SPACE I & II Annual Reports. The latter half featured FNPP Expert Group members discussing foreign national prisoners in various countries.

 

Prof. Aebi highlighted the increasing utility of SPACE Reports for comparative studies. Audience questions reflected the complexity of using statistics in shaping policy and practice, warranting further consideration.

 

Gustav Tallving, EuroPris’s Executive Director, closed the webinar, thanking participants for their contributions. The presentations provided a foundation for future exploration of issues surrounding foreign offenders in Europe.
