Introduction: The Hungarian Prison Service is currently developing new concepts related to the fields of employment rehabilitation and protected post-release accommodation. We would like to obtain some information regarding the practices of our international partner organizations. Please be so kind and answer these questions, providing statistical data and/or details where possible. Thank you very much for your kind contribution to our effort.
(Referring to question 1) With exception of one prison (long-term incarceration) in Slovenian Prison System do not conduct employment rehabilitation activities in such mode as described in the question. However we offer occupational therapy, which is available to all prisoners, who have difficulties gaining and keeping employment. Occupational therapy could be attended by all inmates with working inability as evaluated by occupational medicine. We have recently started to develop rehabilitation model as multidisciplinary approach, based on assessment and trainings modules to assure maximal good use and treatment based on individual needs. Through the rehabilitation process we would like to prepare prisoners with various impairments not only to be able to gain employment during incarceration but also to accelerate reintegration after release. (Referring to question 2) Based on Annual Report 2016 as on the 1st of January 2016 we included in different occupational workshops 57 inmates, among them there were 53 incapable to work. Approximately 6.3% prisoners are included in occupational therapy program.
