Do you encounter problems or difficulties?We find difficulties on reaching our target: we have few followers
Do you have any advice/tips for organizations that would like to start using social media?It is useful to set up a policy in the use of social media before opening the different accounts
How many employees are involved in managing the social media?Three employees who have other duties related to communication in the organisation are in charge of the social media accounts

Special Remarks or CommentsNo, Prison System Directorate does not use social networks. The Croatian Government uses official profile on social media / networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Flickr, Scribd, Instagram and LinkedIn). Ministry is considered as an integral part of the Government, therefore, the Government official profile is used as an official profile of the Ministry. Prison System Directorate is organizational unit of the Ministry of Justice.

If yes, which social media do you use?Twitter, LinkedIn, internal media (Sharepoint intranet)
To what end do you use social media?Twitter: communication to external partners, foremost to the presse; also communication to employees who follo Twitter. LinkedIn: mostly for recruitment purposes. Sharepoint intranet: internal communication and knowledge-sharing.

Do you encounter problems or difficulties?No, but our experience is rather limited, so far.
Do you have any advice/tips for organizations that would like to start using social media?Consider the purpose - why? what do you want to achieve? Consider the time and ressources needed to post, monitor, and reply on social media platforms. Social media are there, no matter what you do, and they work fast - you have to be able to respond immediately, if you should be present at all.
How many employees are involved in managing the social media?About 5 (between Communication and HR), but only as a small part of their other tasks.
Do you have a policy on the use of social media?Yes, in Communication we have just made a Twitter policy, and the HR department are working on a policy for employees' use of social media.

Special Remarks or CommentsThe Crimial Sanctions Agnecy does not use social media as an organisation at the moment , but we are considering it for PR-reasons and will probably start using it next year 2016.

Special Remarks or CommentsThe Irish Prison Service Press Office has explored and considered the use of social media but has decided against using such communications tools at this time. The IPS is keeping social media under review and should the Service identify a business need that would benfit from a social media platform then the situation will be reviewed.

Do you have a policy on the use of social media?While the Irish Prison Service does not use social media as a communications tool, the Service developed a social media policy in 2014 to regulate the conduct of staff who engage in social media use. Special Remarks or CommentsYes, social media in Latvian prison system is used for informative purposes – to inform society about the news in our organization. Latvian Prison Administration publishes information about news in the organization also in newspapers, internet portals, news are also shared on radio and television.

To what end do you use social media?To promote Latvian Prison Administration, to share facts, to create our identity, to sustain the bond between the organization and society, to inform and educate society about the field of work of Latvian Prison Administration, to show that good things happen in prisons as well (for example, there are many resocialisation programs, education programs , many activities).

Social media policy is developed by the Executive Information Service in Northern Ireland. NIPS is currently working with them to set up a specific social media presence.

Are the people you are trying to reach active on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram? Does your organisation have sufficient knowledge about social media? Does the organisation have sufficient resources for monitoring etc.? In what way will social media actually help the organisation achieve its goals?
How many employees are involved in managing the social media?In the prisons which use social media, the workshop overseers/managers administrate their Facebook page as a small part of their work duties

NO, Prison Administration of Republic of Slovenia have not yet decided to use social media. We mostly use web site and e-mail for external communication, and intranet for internal communication. In case of greater public interest we organize press conferences. So far there was no need to promote prison services through social media, as other communication ways prove to be efficient in order to reach interested public on promotional events.
