ERA-Mutual Legal Assistance in Countering Terrorism and Exchanging Information
Madrid, 9 – 10 February 2017
This first seminar in a series of four co-funded by the European Commission on issues related to countering terrorism and preventing radicalisation in prisons will focus on mutual legal assistance in countering terrorism and exchanging information. The new fourth AML Directive as well as the latest EU Action Plan for strengthening the fight against terrorist financing will also be analysed.
The use and functioning of the European Criminal Records Information System (ECRIS) will also be explained, as well as moves towards improving its use in relation to the exchange of information on non-EU nationals.
Mutual legal assistance and mutual recognition of decisions in relation to Framework Decisions 2003/577/JHA on the execution in the European Union of orders freezing property or evidence and 2006/783/JHA on the application of the principle of mutual recognition to confiscation orders
Directive (EU) 2015/849 on the prevention of the use of the financial system for the purposes of money laundering or terrorist financing and the latest EU Action Plan for strengthening the fight against terrorist financing
The proper application of the European Criminal Records Information System (ECRIS) and the move towards increasing its use in relation to non-EU nationals.
