Mitigating Uncertainty for Children: From pre-trial procedures to the COVID-19 pandemic (June, 2021)
When:Jun 3, 2021
Time: 03:00 PM (CET)
The Children of Prisoners in Europe (COPE) are organizing a webinar that explores uncertainty and its impact on children. It highlights research on how this uncertainty can compound the effects of trauma and toxic stress already experienced when a parent is in contact with the law. It looks at how children can be supported to cope with this uncertainty and maintain trust in their relationship with a parent, as well as how their rights to family contact can be respected; how pre-trial detention procedures can better respect children’s rights; and how children can be better protected through child safeguarding measures and greater reliance on alternatives to custody.
