In November 2018, the European Prison Regime Forum workshop was organized in the international city of The Hague. The workshop had a well-balanced program about successful reintegration, how to realize continuity and how to measure outcomes. There were participants from 19 countries and it was kindly hosted by the Dutch Custodial Institutions Agency.
Speakers from DJI Netherlands and the UNODC opened the Workshop, followed by an original academic scope on the interaction of the human brain and the prison environment presented by a neuropsychologist, Jesse Meijers.
Vocational training, education, employment skills, reintegration, business-oriented models, best practices on regimes, quality of staff, continuity of work, were discussed in an interactive way. The methodology of the World Café Tour stimulated the mutual exchange of ideas.
The workshop was concluded with some original statements for discussions related to regimes and with a conclusion to organise the next EPRF workshop in two years.
