Prison Achievement Award 2025

Again this year, EuroPris will be rewarding a regional prison facility in one of its member countries for an outstanding initiative and achievement within the European prison sector. The Prison Achievement Award 2025 highlights once again highlights innovative projects, best practices, and significant improvements for prison operations. Please note that applications for this year have closed*

Nomination is only eligible if it meets all of the following criteria:

  • European – Prisons from correctional services in the Council of Europe region.
  • Local – Significant development of a prison facility at a regional/local level, not the national prison service.
  • Recent – Development must have been implemented in the last 5 years.
  • Impactful – Results should show improvement and impact in one or more clearly defined areas.
  • Sustainable – Results need to be possible to maintain over time, not a (temporary) project that ends with its funding.
  • A New Departure – Change is unique, original, or highly innovative.

Selection

After reviewing applications coming from all over Europe, a Selection Board (3 EuroPris Board members, 1 international expert) selects  Top 5 applications, which will be asked to put together introductory videos about their initiatives and then have the videos shown at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 23 September 2025 in Krakow, Poland.


The Director Generals attending the AGM will then vote on a winner, and a trophy for the winning prison facility will be handed over to the Director of that prison’s country.
