From 7–10 July, the Criminal Justice Platform Europe (CJPE), bringing together EuroPris, CEP, and EFRJ, successfully held the 8th edition of its Summer Course in Barcelona. The event welcomed over 60 participants from more than 26 countries, providing a unique platform for international exchange on the theme “She Matters: Gender-specific Approaches to Women and Girls in Criminal Justice Settings.”
Throughout the week, participants engaged in a dynamic programme of plenary sessions, interactive workshops, and study visits, fostering knowledge exchange, professional networking, and critical reflection on gender-responsive approaches across prison, probation, and restorative justice settings.
The programme featured workshops on gender-responsive practice and risk management, safety and security for women in detention, and restorative justice mediation through a practical case simulation. Participants also visited a range of criminal justice institutions and services in Catalonia, gaining first-hand insight into innovative practices and approaches in the field.
