About This Handbook
We are proud to present the first output of the EuroPris Prison Security Expert Group: a comprehensive handbook developed by practitioners, for practitioners.
This Handbook provides a European overview of current prison security challenges with a particular focus on organised crime in prisons. Bringing together expertise and practices from across Europe, it explores strategic prison security frameworks, the management of high-risk prisoners, prison intelligence systems, interagency cooperation, and emerging security threats.
Combining practical experience, comparative perspectives, and case studies, the publication offers guidance and transferable insights to support prison services in strengthening security, resilience, and coordinated responses to organised crime.
