Bruno CLEMENT-PETREMANN was born in Paris in 1962. After his A-levels, Bruno started to study the law at university (Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne). One of his teacher was prison advisor within the cabinet of Robert Badinter, the minister of justice who had abolished the death penalty in France in 1981.

His interest for prison systems begun at that time. In 1987, Bruno succeeded the exam to become prison governor.

Since the beginning of his career, he had fourteen assignments. Bruno was governor or deputy governor in Lyon, Moulins, Lille, Fresnes and La Santé, the famous Parisian prison (2019-2025). Bruno was also governor of a probation service in northern France. He has been prison adviser for two ministers (2009-2012). After that, Bruno directed the department of security of the national prison service (2012-2015). He has a great interest in training because he was deputy governor of the French correctional administration academy between 2007 and 2009.

Bruno has experience with international affairs as well. For instance, he worked for 36 months in Algeria for a twinning between Algeria and the European Commission. He managed a team of fifty Italian and French experts with the objective of adapting the Algerian prison system to the international rules. After that, he also had short missions in Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Mauritania and Djibouti.

The same convictions drives himself everytime and everywhere: dignity of prisoners, high-level training for the staff, priority to alternative sanctions. Bruno is now governor of the agency for the development of community works and professional integration.
