Tony McDonnell, now the EuroPris Coordinator for the Real Estate Network, has previously chaired the EuroPris Real Estate Expert Group. He co-authored a number of EuroPris Real Estate papers, playing a leading role in the development of new thinking on creating rehabilitative environments, tackling climate change and the introduction of digital technology into prisons.
Tony was appointed as the Head of Estate Management in the Northern Ireland Prison Service in 2004. He is a Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Project Manager. Tony has 38 years’ experience operating as a construction professional and strategic advisor creating multi-disciplinary teams to design, procure, build, and operate commercial, healthcare, education and custodial projects throughout the UK and Ireland.
Since qualification Tony has held positions as Head of the RICS Project Management faculty in Northern Ireland, RICS NI Council Member, Board Member of the NI Construction Industry Professional College. During 2017-2026 Tony chaired the EuroPris Real Estate expert group, producing best practice guidance, delivering workshops, and promoting the exchange of specialist knowledge on prison real estate matters to EuroPris members across Europe.
