The Hungarian Prison Service have approx. 11,000 employees. 28 prisons located across Hungary and circa 20 000 people in custody.
For staff members who experience an exceptional event in their lives that places a heavy financial burden on them, the prison service provides a non-reimbursable cash grant. We also have a Housing support system for staff members who not own their own property. Staff will receive a rent subsidy or can rent a flat from the prison service at a reduced rent. For officers serving in Budapest, the prison service provides a non-refundable loan repayment subsidy for the purchase of a home for 10 years.
Basic health and dental care is provided free of charge to staff by doctors employed by the prison, and staff on medical leave are paid full salary for the first 30 days, and 90% of their salary after 30 days.
In the case of persons retired and deceased from the staff of the prison service, 50% of the funeral costs are reimbursed by the Service.
In recognition of the high quality of work alongside exemplary behaviour in the workplace and in the community, staff of the Hungarian prison service also on the occasion of our national holidays can be awarded domestic or foreign reward holiday or a cash or material reward.
We also have dependent on the result of a staff members individual performance appraisal in the previous year, they can receive two performance bonuses per year, in April and September.
Also offered are family recreation programmes and onsite nursery.
